And so it began. A "vision" of a place where the community of Tehachapi, and the world, could come together to celebrate the arts and history of Tehachapi.
TEHACHAPI . . . is a rapidly growing community and is now home to more than 30,000 residents. In the past, Tehachapi was known as a small agricultural community with few public buildings among which was a small building that housed the Heritage League museum. Today, with a rapidly growing population, those few small public buildings remain as the center of the city. The funds to build this Center are coming from grants, the donations from Community members and businesses, and government agencies. THIS CENTER . . . is a collaborative effort of the following organizations: The Tehachapi Performing Arts Center Foundation (TPAC), the Tehachapi Community Orchestra Foundation, the Tehachapi Heritage League, The Summit Singers, and the California State Old Time Fiddlers' District Three Board.

In addition, numerous social and service organizations have donated funds and pledged volunteer labor to assist in the creation of this center. The entire community is excited and involved. Former Congressman Bill Thomas expressed his support early in the process by obtaining a $125,000 grant for the project from the U.S. Congress.
